Right-handed pitcher Lucas Giolito, 29, of the Cleveland Indians, has set a record that has since been dishonored.

Giolito took the mound against the Minnesota Twins at Progressive Field in Ohio, U.S., on Friday (May 5), giving up nine runs on seven hits (three home runs) in three innings. Giolito’s nine runs on the day were notable because of his “history. According to stats site OptaStats, Giolito became the first player in 124 years to “allow eight runs in three starts for three different teams in the same season. He previously gave up eight runs in three and two-thirds innings against the New York Mets on July 19 as a member of the Chicago White Sox and nine runs in three and two-thirds innings against the Atlanta Braves on July 3 as a member of the Los Angeles Angels. He followed that up with a no-hitter against Minnesota, cementing his place in Major League Baseball (MLB) history.
