Michael Jordan sells Charlotte stake…steps down as owner

Basketball legend Michael Jordan steps down as owner of the NBA club Charlotte Hornets먹튀검증.

Local media such as ‘ESPN’ reported on the 16th that Jordan sold most of the Hornets’ stake. The club also made an official announcement soon after.

With this action, Jordan stepped down from the Hornets owner position, which he held for 13 years.

Jordan sold a stake in the club to an investment group led by two entrepreneurs, Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnell. Plotkin owns a stake in the Hornets, and Schnell owns a stake in the Atlanta Hawks.

Plotkin and Schnell will take the actual lead in running the Hornets club if approved by the league secretariat.

Jordan isn’t completely severing ties with the Hornets. ESPN said that Jordan still owns a portion of the club and will make a presence out of it. Right now, he plans to oversee the overall operation of the team in the NBA draft, which is coming next week, and the free agent market, which starts on July 1st.

Jordan, who has won 6 NBA championships and 5 MVPs, acquired most of the Hornets’ stock in 2010 for $275 million and became the owner. He became the first black owner in NBA history.

The team’s performance was disappointing. He has made the playoffs only twice since the 2010–11 season.

He won 43 wins in the 2021-22 season and recorded the most wins since the 2015-16 season, but suddenly coach James Borrego was fired and coach Steve Clifford was re-recruited.

He has the 2nd overall pick in this draft.
